Not a Good Start

June 2 was the last time we saw our truck. Friday morning Larry was heading out for an early morning bicycle ride and discovered the truck missing. As of today it's still missing. We have learned a few things from this experience.

Save all receipts for anything you spend on your vehicle, in file not in the vehicle(I guess that would not include gas/fuel though). All of our current receipts were in the truck, and we didn't save much anyway. The insurance company wants records of maintenance & mileage, the bill of sale (we got rid of it after it was paid for). Receipts for after market items (tool box, nerf bars)we don't have any. Lucky for us, the places we had service done brought up copies of the receipts (one good thing about computerized records) They verified the mileage & that we have taken good care of it. We had records from the 18 months on our mission...tax deductible items. We keep coming across things that were inside the truck too, car seat, binoculars, map book, phone charger, DS charger, 72 hr kits, Hank Williams CD set, along with Larry's other CDs, 2 ton jack.....oh we would have to claim those items on our homeowners policy...not likely. Not to mention the memories, our mission, several trips to the wild animal park with various family members, hauling our 5th wheel on vacations, hauling building supplies for our home & gardens creations.

Next, we didn't know that long bed quad cabs are not a common truck anymore, diesel or gas. We have been looking at new ones and have only heard of 2 in the North Texas area.

AAA said they would consider it a loss after 2 weeks.....that was yesterday. Now to see what they give us for it. We know it will not replace our truck...but hopefully they are fair with us considering the condition & low mileage.

We figure our truck is now in Mexico, the quad cabs are a good catch for smuggling. They remove the backseat so they can stuff in more bodies or drugs. Something tells me the 4 wheel drive will navigate the Mexican terrain better too.
