March 2012

We had some much needed rain the start of Spring Break in Fort Worth.

Not that you really care, but our Target is starting a total store remodel. They say it will be done mostly at night (sorry Sally), but then why am I a door watcher all week next week 6:30 am to 3 pm? No we have not changed to being Walmart, I'm supposed to sign in vendors and try to make sure "guests" don't walk out without paying for merchandise, I guess I'll be a combination greeter/security. I just hope I'm not bored to death doing 40 hrs of this.

In a Word or Two

I can't actually say we've been busy since the last post, maybe just not much to say. We went to Georgia the end of January to visit with my Mom & family. We left when I got off of work at 11:45 pm, and drove all night. It was nice to get to Conyers by 3pm. The next day we went to my sisters in Dawsonville. They moved last year to a nice house on about 5 acres. They even have their own lake. My brother-in-law took us to lunch to the Smith House in Delongea. You get a family style meal of southern cooking. There is no menu, you get what they are serving that day, always fried chicken, creamed corn & greens. We always go see a movie, One for the Money. Festina enjoys her trips to Grandma's. Mom has an acre & Festina likes to explore the grounds and hangs out with the pack, between my mom and brother they have 5 dogs.

Larry has become a Stradivarius, well not exactly, Larry has been working part time for his friend Larry, who has a music business. He primarily rents violins and cellos for students. My Larry has started cleaning & repairing instruments. He makes practice bows and fixes some of the cases too.

Kelly has wanted to do a mud run since last year, well we are entered into the Original MudRun We've started training with the app Couch to 5K . I'm not sure what she's gotten me into. But it has gotten me into a training schedule with a goal....not to die!

Lastly, my mom was attacked by a dog. She was at my sister's house, when one of her dogs attacked mom's little dog. My mom being the pack leader went to protect Bella, which she did but Zoe grabbed my mother's arm. (Bella is a daushound, Zoe was a pit). My mom managed to keep her cool, when Zoe wouldn't let loose with yelling, Mom calmed her down and then she let go. Mom secured the dog, then sat down with her arm wrapped until someone could get to her. She required 32 stitches to repair the wounds. I'm proud of her, she handled the situation better than most. The doctor said this probably saved her life. My brother-in-law said it looked like there had been a murder in the house with the blood that was everywhere.

A couple of things were learned from this whole thing....Its good to have a land line, Mom had a hard time calling anyone...her cell phone was dead & reception is bad there. And never trust a dog that has bitten someone....a couple of months before, this dog bit my sister when she broke up a fight between her dogs, she required several stitches in her hand.
